Tips for selecting the best hostel
1. Read the hostel's microsite thoroughly. These have a full description of the hostel along with pictures too.
2. Read past customer comments and ratings. You are invited to review the hostels in terms of security, cleanliness, fun, staff, location and character.
3. Book in advance to ensure you get the type of room you want. If you are looking for a private double/twin room, but leave booking until the last minute, you may not get the type of room you want.
4. Make sure to bring a lock with you. All hostels provide lockers for valuables, although some provide the lockers actually inside the room, although you'll need to have a key to lock it.
5. If you plan on partying in the destination make sure there is no curfew in the hostel where you are staying!
6. If you want to be able to cook for yourself to save money on eating out, make sure the hostel you want to stay in provides kitchen facilities.
Tips to make travelling easier for you
1. Learn about the culture of the country before you visit it, and try not to look too much like a tourist.
2. When you travel somewhere forget your map and all the guide books for a while. Sometimes it's better to stroll along the streets and discover things that aren't listed anywhere in the guides but are nonetheless great and interesting and more fun.

6. Get one of those thin money belts that fit inside your clothes. That way you can carry your passport and money with you at all times.
