my passport is expiring in Feb 2009. How do i renew if i am to travel before that ?
I stay in India. I wish to travel to thailand and sri lanka in Oct 2008. If i give my passport for renewal right now, it would take atleast 3-4 months. How can i use my existi ng passport to travel ?
The only reason i am not doing it thru the express line is that i dont have time to stand in the queue. is there any way i can go to thailand and sri lanka using my current passport ?
Option #1. Renew the passport: it takes about two weeks, max., esp. if you renew in the same office that originally issued the passport! It takes just two days, if you use the fast track, for which there is provision these days, at a higher fee, which is not too much!
Option #2. Use the existing passport for travel in Oct., as your passport is valid till Feb. 2009! Most probably, there would be no problem at all! (in case your stay abroad takes you very close to the expiry date, all you have to do is to contact the indian embassy/consulate in the place where you are at that time, they help readily!)
